Environment Art Project

A foundational solo environment built with Unreal Engine and Marketplace assets

King’s Plateau was my first self-directed project in Unreal Engine, created to explore environmental layout, lighting, and the use of Marketplace assets. With no prior guidance, this project marked a turning point in developing my confidence with the engine’s core systems, from material setup and landscape tools to asset composition and scene building. The goal was to create a visually striking, natural outdoor environment that captured scale and atmosphere.

Key Features & Design Approach

  • First-Time Use of Marketplace Assets – Explored importing, placing, and modifying third-party assets for worldbuilding.
  • Environmental Composition – Designed a layered environment with terrain, foliage, and ancient ruins to build a believable and cinematic plateau setting.
  • Lighting & Mood – Experimented with directional light, fog, and skylight to evoke a regal yet forgotten tone across the scene.
  • Hands-On Learning – Gained firsthand experience with level creation, navigation tools, and scene optimization fundamentals.
